Kraków-Balice Airport

Lotnisko Balice - Port lotniczy

John Paul II Krakow-Balice International Airport is the second biggest airport in Poland – after the Okęcie Warsaw Chopin Airport. It is located 11 km west of Kraków, just beside the western motorway bypass (A4) of the city. The Balice Airport has a status of a civil and military airport and handles both international and domestic flights. In 2012 the Kraków Airport served 3.4 million passengers.
At the moment investment works are carried out, which by 2016 should have contributed to the increasing of airport traffic capacity two or three times. The investments in question include the building of a hotel, a light rail stop (together with the modernization of the access road), an internal transport system as well as the expansion of the apron, taxiway and runway.
