STU Theatre

This excellent theatre was founded in Kraków in 1966 by Krzysztof Jasiński, who is the theatre’s director up to this day. It has its roots in the then student culture and quickly became known for its  bold, ambitious and innovative theatrical performances.

During its almost 50 year history there were so many artists performing in the STU Theatre that it is practically impossible to name them all. Among the most famous were: Iwona Bielska, Beata Rybotycka, Halina Wyrodek, Krzysztof Globisz, Andrzej Grabowski, Mikołaj Grabowski, Włodzimierz Jasiński, Olgierd Łukaszewicz, Jan Peszek, Jerzy Stuhr, Jerzy Trela, Jan Sawka, Marek Grechuta, Jan Kanty-Pawluśkiewicz, Janusz Stokłosa.

For a dozen years or so, the STU Theatre has functioned on the basis of innovative and original principles. Its artistic director Krzysztof Jasiński commissions the staging of theatrical productions to selected directors and employs them to work in cooperation with the best Polish artists. Owing to this the STU Theatre is still the birthplace of outstanding, often novel ideas and performances, which due to the intimate, romantic auditorium, give the viewers a chance at a very close contact with the actor.

The official website of the STU theatre provides an interesting insight into the theatre's repertoire, history and the theatre company. It also allows to book the tickets for all performances online.
